They're only 640x480 VGA, but that should be good enough for quick-and-dirty coverage. They have a decent amount of memory. They're cheap. Best of all, they have in-cam editing and USB 2.0 connectors for quick uploads to Youtube, via a laptop at Murphy's.  ;)

Downside: fixed lens with 0x optical and 2x digital zoom. It's only suitable for up-close camera work.

On the other hand, it slips into a shirt pocket.

That price is a little steep considering that an entry level DV cam is $250.  Though, prices will drop.

Hooray for technology that empowers the consumer!   8)

A DV cam won't fit in your shirt pocket, and isn't designed for fast uploads to YouTube.

There are far, far better cameras out there than these flip cams, but they're not available for under $200.

These serve a niche market, and I think they'd be very handy for our folks out there on the line. Not to mention, having a $149 camera confiscated hurts less than if it was a Canon.

Oddly, it will probably be cheaper to get a cellphone with a video camera. For example, that video of the kid being tasered in the Berkeley library as he was being arrested was captured on a cellphone with a camera feature. Granted, I can bet it was top of the line, but you can probably get similar results with less than top of the line and have something that can make calls too.

better price.. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_1/602-2852056-8463037?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0009E7AVY

a better option is a wifi / wireless camera that dumps to a remote pc or tape deck so they can take the camera and the video stays with a remote pc so even if they take the camara the video is still in the hands of the owner...

then the feds are screwed... take that feds .

$30 at your nearest CVS store:

Is that their "one time use" video cameras?  I have a friend who posted a hack online showing how to convert them so you can use them again and again.  I'll have to see if he still has it and I'll post the link.

These CVS cameras are pretty cheap but they take the camera and the footage is gone.. the footage is more valuable that any camera..

Do this:
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=4CH-WIRELESS&cat=VID
These are wireless cameras, 4 cams and a receiver for $140 add a cheap VCR or DVD recorder or laptop or whatever to record to, and send in your camera with a person, and you sit in a safe area with in 600 feet and tape the entire thing, the footage stays safe with you and the feds take the camera and have absolutely nothing :D

Total cost is about $35 a camera and it sends the footage to a remote recording device.. For even better use, get a EVDO data cell card in a laptop and broadcast it live via the internet through sites like www.ustream.tv while recording it for prosperity.. if the goons approach you immediately send the video to all your email contacts and hit the upload button to youtube etc..  live footage broadcasted live, archived and protected all in one easy setup that can go anywhere, with no incentive to steal your camera. And even if they do take the camera you got 3 more.

Camera means nothing if you loose the footage when they steal your camera..  they don't want the camera they want the footage.. so eliminate any reason to take your camera :D

I cant wait to get to NH and screw with the idiots... GAME ON!

I was shopping around for something like this, thanks!
